Dhafer Youssef “Street of Minarets”
Tunisian-born oud master, falsetto vocalist and composer Dhafer Youssef is regarded as one of the most esteemed cultural ambassadors of contemporary music, bridging the worlds of East and West.
Across his nine solo albums—featuring collaborations with prominent jazz musicians—listeners encounter frequent elements of Sufi tradition, Eastern literature and Turkish music. In his latest album, Street of Minarets, which he considers a work of artistic maturity, Youssef brought together legendary musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Ambrose Akinmusire, Dave Holland, Nguyen Le, and Vinnie Colaiuta.
